Bally/Stern MPU Corrosion Repair Kit

This kit is for Bally & Stern MPU boards including Bally -17, Bally -35, Bally -133, Stern MPU-100 and Stern MPU-200 boards. These parts that are most frequently damaged by battery corrosion. Before installing any of the enclosed components, all battery corrosion MUST be cleaned and neutralized from circuit board assembly. The corrosion area is usually in the lower middle section of the board surrounding the battery. There are many extremes to battery corrosion damage, sometimes not all of these components are required to perform the repairs and occasionally, additional parts are required. The active components in this kit (Q1, Q2, Q5, and especially U8) are susceptible to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD or static electricity). These components can be damaged by less static electricity than is noticeable by human touch. User must be grounded to dissipate static electricity buildup prior to handling these components.  The following components are polarized: C5, CR5, CR7, CR8, CR44, C52, Q1, Q2, Q5, and VR1. Examine the original board and refer to the Bally MPU Layout for locations of these components. Failure to follow these instructions may result in physical damage to these or other components when powered up.

• (2) 820pF Axial tantalum capacitor (small black barrel, top items in picture for C1 & C2)
• (1) 4.7uF Axial tantalum capacitor (small yellow barrel, 2nd item down for C5)
• (3) 0.01uf Radial capacitor (blue square, 3rd item down for C3, C13 & C80)
• (3) 1N4148 Diode (small glass diodes, 4th item down for CR5, CR7 & CR52 - CR52 used on -133 only)
• (1) 1N4007 Diode (black 5th item down for CR44)
• (1) 1N4738A Zener diode (alternate for 1N9598, small silver 6th item down for VR1)
• 1) LED Green (for CR8)
• (4) Resistors 8.2K ohm, 1/4W (for R1, R3, R24 & R28)
• (1) Resistor, 120K ohm, 1/4W (for R2)
• (1) Resistor, 82 ohm, 2W (for R11)
• (1) Resistor 270 ohm, 1/4W (for R12)
• (2) Resistors 2K ohm, 1/4W (For R16 & R113)
• (1) Resistor 150K ohm, 1/4W (for R17)
• (1) Resistor 470 ohm, 1/2W (for R29)
• (1) Resistor 3.3K ohm, 1/4W (for R107)
